Derby: Breaking News

You Ought to be in Pictures!!

Artists and budding filmmakers Bob Manley of Sanbornton, NH, his brother Don Manley of Foster, RI, and Michel Schtakleff of Providence, RI, are making a documentary film of the Great Rotary Fishing Derby in Meredith NH. For 20 years, the Great Rotary Fishing Derby has been raising money for the Meredith community and local charities, over $1.4 million dollars to date, by organizing and hosting one of the largest ice fishing derbies in the United States.

The Great Rotary Fishing Derby is a story waiting to be told. In truth, it's a plethora of stories, and Bob, Don and Michel aim to tell them. From the dedicated Rotarians who make it happen to the die-hard ice fisherman who defy the harshest New Hampshire weather to participate. From the local business and townspeople who support the event to the dozens of charities who benefit from its rewards. These are the stories of real people who have been coming together every year for 30 years to make this historic event come alive. Bob Manley, Don Manley, and Michel Schtakleff intend to make a documentary video of those stories and share with the rest of world what the people of Meredith and surrounding communities are so fortunate to take part in every year. Look for them on the ice in 2009 gathering stories.
